Collection: the soft edge

for as long as mesa collections has been setting tables, we've done it in ruffles: soft, gathered, a little undone on purpose. the soft edge is our first step away from that, and it arrives with two new things.

the first is a shape: the scallop. quieter than a ruffle, rounded and repeating, more restrained but just as considered. you'll find it on our new placemats, now reversible, and on a matching coaster made to carry the same colourway all the way down to the glass.

the second is a category we've never made before: the apron. it's the piece worn before anyone else arrives tied on while the table's still coming together, damp-handed from the last dish, ready to greet the first guest. it felt like the natural place to introduce a new edge, since both are about the same instinct: softening the sharp corners of hosting, one at the table's edge, one at yours.
